Travelin’ Man

“Always free, sometimes lonely, always movin’ around”
Lynyrd Skynyrd

Years ago I read a post which changed my view of freedom. It was from a friend who was on his way to Yosemite National Park for some Winter camping. His joy, his energy surrounding the adventure.... It captured my heart. Thank You! DrakeEinsteinEquation.

The joy of starting in Saint Jean Pied de Port on a sunny Saturday morning seems so long ago. I’ve walked along dusty paths through villages, along miles of asphalt into and out of cities. I’ve walked alone, walked in the company of another, walked in the company of many others. I’ve listened to stories and told stories, of life.

I’ve attended Catholic Mass conducted in French, Polish and Spanish. In a cathedrals in Paris, Pamplona, Burgos, Leon, and a few more places I can’t remember now. I’ve expressed thanks for all my blessings, asked forgiveness for my sins, and prayed for strength to be accepting of both.

I’ve indulged in an ample amount of cerveza and a fair share of vino tinto. Eaten escargot , Pintxos, tapas, pulpos, trucha, paella, bocadillos , and more. Had more than a few cafe con leches.

I’ve just made it to the top of last major climb of this Camino. Laying in a bed at the municipal alburgie of a mountain top village.
One of a hundred or more peregrinos sleeping in bunk beds, lined up head to toe.

Update:
Just arrived in Sarria, 100k to go.
Santiago de Compostela is now just days away.

I’ve spent a lifetime being all that I can be, I chose now to be all that I am .....

Don’t be another brick in the wall

“Don’t be another “brick in the wall”.
Pink Floyd , Dark Side of the Moon

Sage advice or the lead into the proverbial rabbit hole.... When dancing with Fear, I know the later to be true. When Fear is my partner, I choose to obey all the rules,

If however, one reaches for the hand of faith. The world becomes an experience without walls. This is then my reality, my experience , my joy....

Day three, preparing to leave Paris for Saint Jean Pied de Porte. The start of the Camino is hours away. I am filled with joy and energy. I’ll not be, “another brick in the wall “.
